Drift Electric Motocross

Ride anywhere without noise. This bike is extremely powerful. On a tight race course you will absolutely destroy similar sized gas bikes. Wheelies and burnouts cannot be avoided. This is not a toy and is strictly for offroad use only.

It begins with a 19+ horsepower (14,400 watt) electric vehicle motor and programmable controller. The power is stored in a special quick-change power pack that can deliver up to 600 amps. Overview – In development for over a year, the ShockRay is an excellent overall personal electric vehicle product for riders of all skill levels. We start with the super strong StingRay and install an ultra-efficient 1000W brushless DC motor at 48V. This motor includes both an internal fan for improved cooling and a sealed core design that prevents contaminates from getting to the sensitive parts of the motor providing the best features of both sealed and vented motor options. We also build a custom three speed rear wheel and add dual disc brakes. We then add a larger 26" front wheel with a Maxxis Hookworm tire for improved handling, convert the pedals to fixed forward position pegs, and add the distinctive "ape hanger" handlebars. ShockRay can climb moderate hills with average sized riders, offers a 30+mph top speed, and a 20+ mile top range. Building El Chopper is primarily a frame building and assembly project. Most of the components for El Chopper are available at local hardware, discount, auto, and bicycle stores, and your local Harley-Davidson motorcycle dealer. The motor, controller, throttle, chain, and sprockets are available from mail-order/web electric vehicle component suppliers and go-cart suppliers.

Cheetah combines a lightweight frame with the flexibility to integrate standard mountain bike parts, a choice of electric motors and controllers, and different sets of affordable, readily available batteries. The result is a machine configured to your needs. From a 5/28/04 e-mail: The bike is now part of a TV series called the “Eco Trekker” that is still being filmed. I also have a Diesel motorcycle coming out soon. This bike will run on Veg oil, Biodiesel and diesel in addition to meeting the 2006 emissions.

Gas-Powered Bicycles

The Gas-Powered Alternative

The following sites offer information on gasoline-powered bicycles and motors.
Generally speaking, they cost about the same as electric drives. However, they are noisier, hotter, require more maintenance, and accelerate more slowly. Also, the fuel smells, costs more, and can be messy to work with. Here in California, they bear the added legal requirements of a motorized vehicle (license, registration, insurance). On the upside, they have greater range, can fuel up in minutes, and have higher cruising speeds (30 mph by just the motor itself).
