Rob Recommends
Long-time Milpitas resident (since 1977) and community activist Rob Means is dissatisfied with how the "lame stream" media (Sarah Palin's words) handles campaigns and the issues that affect us all.
With knowledge, experience and wisdom equal to many of the talking heads on TV shows, he boldly suggests the following for voters who support people and families,
not giant corporations and the rich.
State and Federal Elective Offices:
- Jerry Brown for Governor - experienced, compassionate, not rich, and will sign the single-payer health care plan.
- Gavin Newsom for Lt. Governor - progressive, smart, energetic
- Debra Bowen for Secretary of State - she removed election machines that miscounted votes
- Dave Jones for Insurance Commissioner - he is on our side, not with the insurance companies
- Barbara Boxer for Senator - experienced, progressive, opposes exporting jobs
- Bob Wieckowski for State Assembly - small businessman, Fremont Councilmember, warrior for people
California Propositions:
- Yes on Prop. 19: Just say "no" to the drug war - legalize, regulate and TAX marijuana.
- Yes on Prop. 20: Stop gerrymandering of Congressional districts.
- Yes on Prop. 21 Tax what we don't want (cars); subsidize what we want (state parks).
- Yes on Prop. 22 Stop the state government from taking local government revenue.
- No on Prop. 23: Oil company-sponsored proposal to increase CO2 pollution.
- Yes on Prop. 24: Close a few business loopholes.
- Yes on Prop. 25: Restore majority rule to budget decisions.
- No on Prop. 26: Corporate-sponsored measure to keep tax policy from changing.
- No on Prop. 27: Should be called the "California State Legislature gerrymandering act".
Milpitas City Council & Mayor:
- Nancy Mendizabal for Milpitas City Council - we need a union voice on the City Council team..
- Althea Polanski for Milpitas City Council - education advocate on the City Council team.
- Rob Means for Milpitas Mayor - a progressive voice to round out the City Council team.
